Guitar Tab - Texas Gales- Advanced:

Guitar Tab -Texas Gales - Advanced: In this lesson of Guitar Tabs from Ultimate Guitar OnLine we will explore another Fiddle Tune. Texas Gales. This song was greatly popularized when Norman Blake and Tony Rice teamed up to make an album together - Blake & Rice. Both Tony and Norman have equally great breaks in this song and you will want to listen carefully to their renditions.

This Guitar Tab - Texas Gales - Advanced, is patterned after Tony Rice's first break in the song. While not duplicating it note for note, it has the flavor of Rice-Style playing and is a great arrangement that you will want to use.

Ultimate Guitar Tab Tips on This Selection:
Watch your up and down strokes carefully. It is critical that you keep them consistent. Down strokes are almost always on the downbeat and upstrokes are often on the upbeat, but not always. We have clearly shown the down and up strokes below each note in the tab. The down-up strokes are shown on the tab below the Guitar Tab staff.
This is the advanced version of this song and a very good arrangement I might add. Master this song and you will be well on your way to being a great flatpicker.
Left hand fingering is clearly shown below the tab sections and each number is representative of a finger with the index finger being 1 the middle being 2 the ring 3 and the pinky number 4.
Begin the song with a quick, crisp strum of the 4-note C Major Chord.
The first major obstacle is measure 10. Be sure to work through the 2 series of pull-off's and make them smooth and without a pause or speed-up in timing.
Measure 12, slide-up from the first position to the third position utilizing the third finger in the slide. Play in the third position until the middle of the 13th measure. Then using an open first string, transition to the first position once again. Repeat for the 14th measure.
For the 15th measure, play these notes in the 7th position, starting with a small 2-string bar chord of the first finger.
Measure 19 starts out with a grace note. This is an ornamentation we have not discussed before. It is much like a pull-off and is executed like a pull off. However the timing from the first note of the grace note is borrowed from the main note that comes after it. In this case both notes are played in the space of an eighth note. Start by fingering the actual grace note with your first finger, pull it off quickly to sound the actual note - the open 4th string or "D" note. Be ready to pull the trigger for the next note, because it comes quickly. It is best to listen to this on the actual Guitar Pro file, which is available above.
Guitar Pro has a really cool feature called speed trainer. you can set a loop of accompaniment chords to be played and after each loop the speed increased by a percent that you specify. I love this feature and it gives you milestone very clearly as to you speed conditioning.
Each quarter note = one beat in the measure so there are 4 quarter notes in just about every measure.
Memorize Your Ultimate Guitar Tab:

Make sure to memorize your songs. What is the easiest way to do this? Unless you have perfect pitch, you will have to learn one section or measure at a time. Once you can play flawlessly move on to the next measure and add it to what you have memorized. Continue this and make sure you can play the first half of the song, including the second ending.

Once you have the first half memorized, move on to the second half, doing the same thing with the second half of the song.
