The Gretsch White Falcon was the first serious electric guitar that I owned. It was a 1970's model and is viturally the same today as it was back then.
I loved that guitar. The only reason I parted with it was to get enough case to buy my Gretsch SuperChet, which I still have today.
How I wished I wouldn't have sold that Gretsch White Falcon now. It would have been worth a mint as they are considered quite rare. Unfortunately it was destroyed by the guy who bought it. He backed over it with his car!!
This guitar has all of the features that you will want in a great fingerstyle guitar. But be fooled into thinking that it is only for fingerstyle. This guitar also makes a great flat pick style guitar as well.
My personal preference is that the Gretsch White Falcon guitar is a bit to showy - you know the gold sparkle and all. That is initially why I sold my. I prefer a slightly understated design.
Ok I admit it, I love that "Great Gretsch Sound" and I have had several Gretsch guitars over the course of my musical carrier. This guitar is up to par with all the other Chet Atkins models. It has the same electronics and basically puts out the same sound.
The people at Gretsch do a great job of setup on their guitars. The nuts do not have to be touched because they install a zero fret on most of their guitar. Very smart. The nut is the hardest adjustment to make on an electric guitar.
If the action is not to your taste on the bridge end of things it is a very simple matter to adjust upward or downward.
Usually they come from the factory perfectly setup and rarely need any adjustment.
Like I said, my Gretsch SuperChet is over 30 years old and it still looks like brand new. It could be hanging on the wall in a music shop. There are no cracks, finish imperfections, delamination or any other complaints that I could make about the Gretsch White Falcon.
The only thing it won't resist is being rolled over by a drunk musician's car. : )

The Gretsch White Falcon is one of the best fingerstyle guitars you will ever put you hands on. It has all of the features that you can imagine and will stand up to the rigors of being on the road. Like I mentioned earlier in this review, it has the same electronics as the Chet Atkins models and the sound will match those models very closely.
I'm not overly impressed with the gold sparkle and the big pad on the back, but I'm sure many people will appreciate these appointments.
The sound production is beautiful and the Gretsch White Falcon has a deep Chet Atkins type sound
If you are an advanced music student or seasoned professional guitarist, this guitar will more than meet anything you want to tackle. I give the Gretsch White Falcon very high marks.
